Return in Stalingrad. Part 1.1.

March, 1943. Snow-covered village Belokamenka. The winter icy cold had being still strong. The sun was cold and rarely appeared for emphasizing the severity of nature.
Once it was necessary to bring straw in village from long distant haystacks. The nearest ones were already taken out.
They gave us couple of carts with skinny and gloomy horses. The wainers were almost the same leanness teens of 13 - 14 years old. Looking at them, I was not sure we shall complete the task. However before the dusk we did it twice. The only thing I was late on daily evening meeting of the Village Council.
The warm that wrapped me up at the entrance of Village Council Hall was a pleasant end of the day of work. I took a load off feet on the nearest empty seat start harking the discussion of forthcoming day. The situation at the front I've already missed.
'You missed the most important, our regional committee of Communist Party has moved from
from Nikolaevka to Stalingrad and placed in Beketovka', the woman sitting close to me has muttered in my ears.
Beketovka is the most southern of six city of Stalingrad areas. Apart from Beketovka, the areas were the following, Voroshilov, Central, Barricadny, October and Tractor, the most northern. The extension along Volga river was equaled 27 kms. It considered that Beketovka was as independent suburb. There were placed Stalingrad GRES power plant, a chemical plant # 91, large sawmill and a number of important municipal and federal enterprises. To the extent of Beketovka there was a separate settlement named Sarepta where the Germans lived ever since Catherine the Great. Many of them settled in Russia during her reign. In the beginning of War all of them were taken out of Urals. Nazi did not bomb the area of Sarepta nor Stalingrad GRES power plant or other enterprises. But all the private houses were burned by demolition bombs. Probably factories Nazi preserved for themselves. They barged in city but the end we know well. The one Beketovka the regional committee of Communist Party has moved from rural area Nikolaevka (to be continued).
